Manson Bolves Donaldson Varn provides legal services to local governments and special districts throughout the state. This representation includes counties, municipalities, water management districts, regional water supply authority, and independent special fire control and rescue districts.
Local governments and special districts provide direct services to citizens, and in doing so have very unique issues. These are not merely customer service related, but also deal with interlocal governmental issues, transactions and compliance.
Like our administrative practice, this is not strictly environmental. For years, we have represented fire districts whose issues range from annexation and ballot challenges through interlocal agreements and legislative initiatives.
We also provide representation for clients on transactions between governments and private interests, including the negotiating and drafting of general government interlocal agreements.
Our services include:
- Complex Contractual Negotiation
- Drafting Transactional Documents
- Budgetary Issues and Appropriations
- General Counsel Services
- Levy of Ad Valorem Taxes and Non-Ad Valorem Assessments
- Levy and Use of Impact Fees
- Public Finance
- Public Records and Sunshine Law
Manson Bolves Donaldson Varn is actively involved in any proposed change to Chapters 189, Florida Statutes, (Special Districts) and Chapter 191, Florida Statutes, (Special Fire Control Districts) and any legislation that may have a direct or indirect impact on local government operations.
Our attorneys frequently represent local governments in land use and environmental matters, including acting as special counsel in court proceedings on behalf of local governments.
