(Tallahassee) MansonBolves attorney, Craig Varn, was selected as General Counsel for the Florida Engineering Society (FES), an affiliate of the National Society of Professional Engineers. Varn will also act as the General Counsel for the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers. The FES is an organization with more than 3,300 members representing the interests of engineers in Florida. Varn has been a member of the FES since 2006.

The FES is organized into six practice sections and 19 chapters throughout the state, which are each represented on the Board of Directors,” said Varn. “I think I bring a unique perspective, having worked as an engineer and now as an attorney. I’m very excited to represent an organization in which I have been so active.”

“We look forward to working with Craig,” said Frank Rudd, Executive Director at FES. “I think his skills in the legal, environmental and political arenas will be invaluable for the society.”

Varn has more than 14 years experience representing the private sector and governments in water, environmental, land use, administrative and governmental law. He understands the complexities of technical evidence like hydrogeology and engineering as well as modeling and the other disciplines needed in these matters. Varn’s specialties include environmental resource permitting, sovereign submerged lands, and regulatory compliance and enforcement issues.

Prior to becoming an attorney, he was an engineer designing stormwater management facilities, drainage systems and support structures. He also processed environmental permitting for stormwater management facilities.
